Your ballot must be returned to a ballot drop box no later than 8 p.m. Your ballot packet is assembled about four weeks prior to Election Day. Election participation is not mandatory by the Constitution of Estonia. The introduction of i-voting has not previously had a significant impact on voter turnout.

How to Request Information

Not to be confused with casting a limitless amount of votes – changing your one designated vote throughout the i-voting period, in which the vote cast the latest will be counted. After the end of the i-voting period (in the 2023 Parliamentary elections from February 27th to March 4th), you can still show up at the polling station on election day and make your choice written on paper. To receive a duplicate voter registration card, you must make a request, in writing, to your local county election commission office that you have lost your original voter registration card. Failure to complete the form properly could result in your registration being delayed or denied.

The following are standard Candidate Filing steps for a candidate to complete.

Voters who need or require a representative to pick up a Vote by Mail ballot must complete and return the Representative Replacement Vote by Mail Ballot Application – your wet signature is required to process the request. Scanning and counting continue daily until all eligible votes are counted and the election is certified. After ballots are scanned we review the electronic images for any stray marks, unclear voter intent or corrections.

Directions to Elections

Your signature is required to verify your identity and process the ballot. The Representative’s Statement (step 8) needs to be signed in the presence of the Registrar staff. This application must be provided in person to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk by the voter’s representative. The voter’s representative will be issued the voter’s replacement Vote by Mail ballot the same day. After you send in your ballot, you can check if it was received by your election office. If your official absentee ballot arrives after sending in the FWAB, fill out and send in the official ballot too.
